Major Train Disruptions in Mumbai: Special Blocks and Diverted Services on Sunday

Mumbai commuters should brace for significant disruptions in local train services this Sunday due to special blocks and maintenance work across multiple lines. Both the Central and Western Railways will implement changes that may affect travel schedules throughout the day.

Central Railway Special Block (Matunga-Mulund UP and DN Fast Lines)

A special block will be implemented on the Down (DN) fast lines between Matunga and Mulund from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. During this period, DN fast line services departing CSMT Mumbai between 10:58 am and 3:10 pm will be diverted to the DN slow line at Matunga station. These services will halt at their regular stops between Matunga and Mulund, with a delay of about 15 minutes. Fast trains traveling beyond Thane will be re-diverted onto the DN fast line at Mulund.

Similarly, UP fast line services departing Thane from 11:25 am to 3:27 pm will be diverted to the UP slow line at Mulund station. These trains will halt according to their usual schedule between Mulund and Matunga stations and will be restored to the UP fast line at Matunga. These services are also expected to arrive 15 minutes behind schedule.

Harbour Line Block (Kurla-Vashi)

In addition to the above, a block on the Harbour line between Kurla and Vashi will affect services from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm. Down Harbour line services to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel departing CSMT between 10:34 am and 3:36 pm, as well as UP Harbour line services from Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi to CSMT between 10:16 am and 3:47 pm, will be cancelled. However, special services will operate between CSMT and Kurla, and between Kurla and Panvel/Vashi during the block period. Harbour line passengers can also use alternate routes via Thane-Vashi or Nerul stations from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Western Railway Jumbo Block (Churchgate-Mumbai Central)

On the Western Railway, a jumbo block will take place between Churchgate and Mumbai Central (local) stations from 10:35 am to 3:35 pm for track maintenance, signaling, and overhead equipment repairs. During this time, all fast line trains will operate on slow lines between these stations, causing some suburban trains to be cancelled or short-terminated at Bandra/Dadar stations. Commuters traveling on fast lines should expect delays or disruptions during this maintenance period.

Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and keep updated on real-time train schedules due to these planned disruptions.
