Maharashtra to Set Up Rs 10 Crore Media Centre for News Content Monitoring

Mumbai : The Maharashtra government is all set to establish and develop a media monitoring centre to analyse and verify the news content from print, electronic, and digital media, with an allocated budget of around !0 crore for this initiative.
The media monitoring centre will monitor as well as will prepare a report by analysing the coverage and bring to the notice and take action on the spread of negative or misleading news related to the state government. A government resolution on Wednesday stated that ” Government schemes and policies are publicised through various print, electronic, social and digital mediums. The state government was considering to initiate a media monitoring centre where these news items will be monitored and analysed under one roof. The government will set up the cell as an independent project , in which a system will be set up to analyse positive as well as negative news published on all the media platforms including print and digital. The centre is said that, it will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to keep a tab on fake or misleading news as that could create unrest in the state.
The centre will work from 8 am to 10 pm and will give updates on regular interval. It will generate reports under the subject, division, incident and individual categories on daily, monthly and weekly basis. A mobile application as well as a dashboard will be established. The centre will even analyse and prepare report on public response to government policies and schemes.
