Maharashtra CM Fadnavis Chairs Key Meeting to Bolster Security for Mumbai’s Ganeshotsav Festivities

Mumbai: As Mumbai prepares for the vibrant Ganeshotsav celebrations, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis led a vital law-and-order review on Wednesday at Sahyadri Guest House, emphasizing measures to guarantee a secure and seamless event.
Top officials, including Maharashtra Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, and other senior police personnel, joined the session. The talks centered on effective crowd control, traffic coordination, and overall public safety throughout the 10-day festival.
The state government has designated Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav as Maharashtra’s official festival, committing to cover costs for its organization and promotion statewide to foster an inclusive and spectacular observance.
Naresh Dahibavkar, president of the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti (BSGSS), was also in attendance. He highlighted ongoing discussions about law-and-order challenges and unresolved issues with the BMC, traffic police, and enforcement agencies matters that have lingered for the past 3-4 months. Dahibavkar pointed out that immersions in recent years have drawn around one lakh participants, stressing the importance of meticulous planning to ensure their safe and orderly involvement.
This year’s Ganeshotsav kicks off on August 27 with Ganesh Chaturthi and wraps up on September 6 with Ganesh Visarjan (Anant Chaturdashi).
