Legislative Council Elections : Mahayuti Formula Changed Again, Now 17-4-1

Mumbai: Elections have been announced for 17 seats of the Legislative Council of local self-government bodies (Legislative Council Elections 2026). Voting for the Legislative Council will be held on June 18 and counting of votes will be held on June 22. The last date for filing applications for the elections is June 1 and the scrutiny of applications will be done on June 2. The last date for withdrawal of applications will be till June 4.

After the announcement of the Legislative Council elections, the Mahayuti is preparing in full swing. The Mahayuti is holding meetings for the Legislative Council elections. Meanwhile, an important information has come to light. Sources say that in the Mahayuti for the Legislative Council elections, Shiv Sena will get 4 seats, while the Nationalist Congress Party will get only one seat. Regarding the Hingoli-Parbhani seat, Shiv Sena is likely to contest this seat. In this way, a total of 4 seats will be allotted to Shiv Sena. In which, Shiv Sena has mainly been successful in retaining its traditional seats.

Change in the formula of the grand alliance

Information is coming out that this only seat of Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg has been given to the Nationalist Congress. Shiv Sena is likely to get Thane, Nashik, Yavatmal and Parbhani-Hingoli seats. BJP has maintained its claim on Pune. It has been learnt from BJP sources that the formula of the grand alliance has been changed to 12 for BJP, 4 for Shiv Sena and 1 for NCP. Earlier, information had come out that BJP will contest elections on 12 seats, Shiv Sena on 3 and NCP on 2 seats. Today or tomorrow, a meeting is likely to be held between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar. In such a situation, the final decision will be taken by the three leaders.

Elections for 17 seats of the Legislative Council

Since local body elections have not been held in the state, elections could not be held in this constituency even after the term of the previously elected MLAs was completed. Thus, the seats of the MLAs have been vacant for the last two and a half years. If the number of voters in the local self-government constituency is 75 percent of the total voters, then the elections to the Legislative Council can be held. Out of the total 78 members of the Legislative Council, 22 members are elected by the local self-government. Elections will be held for the Legislative Council seats of the local self-government of Solapur, Ahmednagar, Thane, Jalgaon, Nanded, Sangli-Satara, Yavatmal, Pune, Bhandara-Gondiya, Nashik, Amravati.
