‘Jhut, Lalach, Aur Fareb’: RJ Mahvash Posts Cryptic Message Amid Divorce and Alimony Buzz

Mumbai: The ongoing divorce proceedings between Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, influencer and choreographer Dhanashree Verma, have taken another turn in the public eye. A cryptic social media post by RJ Mahvash on Wednesday, March 19th, has sparked considerable speculation, particularly after Chahal himself seemingly endorsed the message.

RJ Mahvash shared a post on Instagram that initially read, “Jhut, lalach, aur fareb se parey hain..khuda ka shukr ainey aaj bhi khade hain…” This translates to something akin to, “Beyond lies, greed, and deceit…thank God the mirrors still stand…” The post, which was later edited, immediately drew attention from social media users due to its references to dishonesty, avarice, and betrayal. The intrigue further intensified when Yuzvendra Chahal reportedly liked the post almost instantly, leading many fans to believe it was a reaction to his current personal situation.

The cricketer’s interaction with the post, which has since garnered over 2.73 lakh likes, triggered a flurry of reactions from fans online. One user humorously pointed out Chahal’s swift like, commenting, “Chahal liked in 10 seconds.” Another quipped about whether Chahal had “auto-like” turned on. Some fans even linked the situation to his cricketing career, with one suggesting it might fuel his performance in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). Others expressed anticipation for further developments, with one fan mentioning their wait for “20th March.”

This social media activity comes shortly after Chahal was seen in the company of RJ Mahvash at the Champions Trophy final in Dubai earlier this month. The pair were spotted together in a premium seating area at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Meanwhile, the legal proceedings surrounding Chahal and Verma’s divorce are progressing. On Wednesday, the Bombay High Court directed the Bandra Magistrate Court to expedite the case. The couple, who married in December 2020, had reportedly been living separately since June 2022. They officially filed for divorce by mutual consent on February 5, 2025, after over two years of separation.

In their divorce settlement, it has been reported that Yuzvendra Chahal has agreed to pay Dhanashree Verma a total alimony of ₹4.75 crore, with ₹2.37 crore already paid. Initially, a family court had denied their request to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period, citing incomplete compliance with the consent terms, specifically the outstanding alimony payment. However, the Bombay High Court overturned this decision, taking into account Chahal’s professional commitments, particularly his participation in the upcoming IPL, and the couple’s extended period of separation. The High Court has now waived the cooling-off period and instructed the family court to finalize the divorce proceedings without further delay.
