First Flight From Mumbai to Amravati Airport Takes Off with CM Fadnavis Onboard

In a significant development for regional air connectivity, the first commercial flight from Mumbai to the newly developed Amravati Airport landed successfully on Wednesday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was among the passengers on board Alliance Air’s Flight 9I633, which was welcomed with a ceremonial water cannon salute upon arrival.
Sharing the moment on X, CM Fadnavis wrote, “Take off from Mumbai for Amravati! A historic day as the Amravati Airport becomes operational today! Regional connectivity is now a reality, unlocking new horizons of growth, opportunity, and transformation!”
Several high-ranking officials, including Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Union Minister of State Muralidhar Mohol, Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Minister Girish Mahajan, attended the inaugural event.
The launch of this new route is a key initiative under the Government of India’s UDAN scheme, aimed at expanding regional air networks. Officials believe the airport will enhance tourism, improve business connectivity, and attract greater investment to the Vidarbha region.
CM Fadnavis Reviews Miniature Airport Model
Before the official opening, CM Fadnavis reviewed a detailed miniature model of the Amravati Airport. During the briefing, senior officials outlined the airport’s infrastructure, key features, and its projected impact on the surrounding areas.

Also present were Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister Muralidhar Mohol, Deputy Chief Ministers Shinde and Pawar, Minister Bawankule, and other dignitaries. The model showcased the airport’s layout and planned amenities, underlining Maharashtra’s focus on improving intra-state connectivity and balanced regional development.
