Fire Devastates 95 Electricity Meters in Thane Apartment Complex

A significant fire erupted early Thursday in the meter room of a seven-storey residential structure in Maharashtra’s Thane district, obliterating 95 electricity meters, according to a local official.
The incident, which occurred at the Savitribai Phule building in Dharmaveer Nagar along Diva-Agasan Road, caused no injuries, reported Yasin Tadvi, head of the Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell.
Dense smoke filled the building, sparking alarm among residents, many of whom evacuated their apartments to seek safety.
Diva fire station personnel were alerted to the blaze at 5:16 am, with the fire originating in the ground-floor meter room, the official noted. The destruction of 95 meters led the power supplier to cut electricity to the building as a precautionary measure.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames by 6:16 am, Tadvi confirmed. Authorities have initiated an inquiry to determine the fire’s precise cause
