Fan throws phone at Enrique Iglesias during Mumbai concert, singer clicks selfie before throwing it back

Enrique Iglesias made a triumphant return to India after more than 13 years, captivating a massive audience at Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds with a high-energy concert on Thursday evening. The event drew over 25,000 enthusiastic supporters who packed the venue, erupting in cheers and harmonies as the 50-year-old Latin pop icon delivered a string of his signature anthems. Amid the electric atmosphere, one standout interaction highlighted Iglesias’s playful rapport with fans: a barrage of tossed accessories, including hats, shirts, and smartphones, rained onto the stage.
The memorable exchange unfolded as Iglesias ventured along a specially built ramp extending into the audience pit, bringing him within arm’s reach of the front-row devotees. In a bold move, one admirer lobbed their phone toward the performer. Undeterred, Iglesias—microphone in one hand—snagged the device mid-air with effortless poise. Grinning broadly, he activated the camera, struck a peace sign, and captured a quick selfie before scanning the sea of faces below. With a flourish, he then launched the phone back into the throng, sparking waves of excitement.
Emboldened by the gesture, additional concertgoers attempted similar stunts in hopes of securing their own personalized snapshot from the star. However, subsequent tosses proved less successful, with devices failing to reach the platform. Iglesias and his crew obligingly retrieved and returned those that landed nearby, maintaining the evening’s buoyant vibe.

The show kicked off with sets from EDM pair Progressive Brothers and Indo-Canadian vocalist Jonita Gandhi, building anticipation for Iglesias’s dynamic 90-minute headline slot. This sold-out spectacle marked the artist’s third appearance in the country overall. He is slated for an encore performance at the same location on Friday, where organizers anticipate an even bigger turnout. Night one’s guest list boasted Bollywood luminaries such as Malaika Arora, Vidya Balan, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Rubina Dilaik, Anu Malik, and Abhinav Shukla, underscoring the event’s star-studded allure.
