CM Devendra Fadnavis Spoke With State BJP Chief Following Party’s Massive Win
Mumbai : BJP-led Mahayuti alliance emerged victorious in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections (BMC), Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dialled the state BJP President, Ravindra Chavan, to congratulate him on the electoral success. The Chief Minister further visited the state BJP headquarters in Mumbai and addressed the party workers. He also congratulated the workers for the efforts they made ahead of the election.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the people of Maharashtra for bestowing the trust upon the Mahayuti coalition. Appreciating the performance of the alliance, he further added that Mahayuti’s flag will fly high in Mumbai from the present day onwards. We took the development agenda to the people given by our PM Modi, and people reciprocated hugely. We have a record-breaking mandate, which shows that people want development and honesty.
I also thank Balasaheb Thackeray for their blessings on us. Henceforth, our agenda will continue to be development. Our soul is Hindutva, and we are proud of it. Hindutva and Development cannot be separated,” he mentioned in his speech. He also expressed his gratitude to the senior leadership of the party, including PM Modi, Amit Shah, Nitin Nabin, and Nitin Gadkari. The CM also said that the Mahayuti will have a huge celebration once the mayor is elected.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance swept the polls with 118 seats, and the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 90 seats. The Shiv Sena (Shinde), on the other hand, is leading with 28 seats.
The BMC elections proved to be a disappointment for the Shiv Sena (UBT), which, as of now, is leading with 65 seats. In the last election, the Uddhav Sena emerged as the single largest party with 84 seats, keeping the BJP behind with 82 seats. The party has witnessed a loss of 19 seats in a span of eight years.
