Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Unveils Bold Plan for a Balanced Budget

  • No flagship scheme will be discontinued while maintaining financial discipline
  • This year, the highest soybean procurement in the state

Mumbai: We are striving to present a very good and balanced budget in the Legislature’s Budget Session. While maintaining financial discipline, we are ensuring that capital expenditure is not affected. At the same time, no flagship scheme will be discontinued, assured Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today.

Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that this is the first Budget Session of the new government and will last for four weeks. Two key topics will be discussed during this session. On March 8, Women’s Day, a special discussion will be held to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar. Additionally, a two-day discussion on the Indian Constitution will take place as part of its Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Discussions will also be held on five legislative bills. The government aims to conduct detailed and constructive discussions on all matters in the Legislature and encourage new members to actively participate.

Regarding reports about a stay on a health department file, the Chief Minister clarified that no such file had reached him and that he had not issued any stay. He explained that the central government had directed that only 5% of the allocated funds be used for capital expenditure, as opposed to the previously planned 9%. Accordingly, concerned ministers and secretaries are prioritizing the expenses. Similarly, he clarified that Maharashtra’s rates for HSRP number plates are lower than those in other states. Other states’ prices exclude GST and installation costs, whereas Maharashtra’s prices include both.

He also highlighted that soybean procurement this year has been ten times higher than the highest procurement in the last 15 years, to the extent that there is no space left in warehouses to store the purchased stock. He urged the media to present the government’s perspective while reporting news to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.
