Gunfire in Chembur: Navi Mumbai Builder Survives Assassination Attempt

A daring assassination attempt unfolded in Chembur late Wednesday night when two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle targeted Sadruddin Khan, a 50-year-old builder from Navi Mumbai. The attack occurred around 9:50 p.m. near the Diamond Garden signal on the Sion-Panvel Highway, as Khan, also known as Sadru, was driving toward Panvel. According to police statements , the assailants fired four to five rounds at Khan’s vehicle before speeding off, leaving the builder gravely wounded but alive.

Khan, a resident of Parsik Hill in Belapur, was immediately taken to Zen Hospital, where doctors managed to stabilize his condition. The incident has drawn attention to his controversial background, noting that Khan has been implicated in several criminal cases tied to oil theft across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane. Authorities have yet to establish a definitive motive, but sources allege his rumored connections to the oil mafia could be a factor in the violent ambush, a lead the police are cautiously exploring.

The Chembur Police have launched a full-scale investigation, filing a case against the unknown attackers and analyzing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators and their escape path. Zone 6 Deputy Commissioner of Police Navnath Dhavale confirmed that Khan was traveling with his son at the time of the shooting, heightening the personal stakes of the incident. As the manhunt intensifies, the attack has sparked renewed unease about organized crime in Mumbai’s suburban areas, though officials remain tight-lipped about potential suspects or underlying causes until evidence solidifies.
