Mumbai : After the rise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, the BJP launched a campaign to rid India of Congress. In many state elections, it has successfully wiped out the Congress. In the six wards of Ghatkopar, 126, 127, 129, 130, 131, 132, the BJP has fielded all the candidates who are originally non-BJP. In 126, Sanjay Bhalerao has fielded his wife, who joined the BJP from the Shiv Sena, in 127, Ganesh Bhagat from the MNS, in 129, Ashwini Mat from the Shiv Sena, in 130, Dharmesh Giri from the Nationalist Congress Party, in 131, Rakhi Jadhav from the Nationalist Party, and in 132, Ritu Tawde, who originally belonged to the Congress, has been fielded. MLA from Ghatkopar West, Ram Kadam, has also joined the BJP from the MNS.
In bid to BJP mayor in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, the BJP has now taken a last stand and a tone has emerged in the Ghatkopar BJP that sincere workers are no longer counted in the BJP, although the high command has assigned the responsibility to Kirit Somaiya, Prakash Mehta and Parag Shah to resolve the situation, because the biggest loss in this has been to the Gujaratis.
Although Dharmesh Giri is the only exceptional BJP worker who has been in the party for more than 15 years, there is no particular opposition to Dharmesh Giri’s candidature. A former corporator Shobha Ashar has filed an independent candidacy. Shobha Ashar is a very old BJP worker and her clean image is her asset, besides most people know her personally and BJP workers are also in the mood to show their strength. They are also working for Shobha Ashar to stop the Congressification of BJP. The party is making a lot of efforts to convince her but she is firm, said a sincere worker on condition of not giving his name.
