BMC Election 2026: 50 Lawyers File Nominations for BMC Polls, Promise Legal Expertise to Tackle Civic Issues

Mumbai: The public has long demanded that educated and cultured individuals enter politics to understand and resolve common people’s problems. That demand is now becoming a reality. Highly educated professionals are increasingly entering the electoral arena. Doctors and lawyers have also filed their nominations this time. In the upcoming BMC elections, 50 advocates have registered as candidates. They are assuring voters that they can follow up on public issues while staying within the legal framework to protect citizens’ rights.

These 50 advocates are contesting from different wards. The lawyer-candidates are highlighting the advantages of having legal professionals in civic governance. Mumbai has witnessed numerous changes over the past four to five years. They are telling voters during their campaigns that educated people are essential to resolve civic issues related to public health, education, water supply, and other municipal problems. While there has always been talk about educated youth entering politics, the reality has been that educated individuals have typically stayed away from political life.
