Mumbai: The long queues at bus stops and the hardship faced by Mumbaikars due to the dwindling number of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses on the city’s roads are set to come to an end soon. The BEST undertaking has recently decided to add 150 double-decker air-conditioned electric buses to its fleet.
The proposal for the 150 double-decker air-conditioned electric buses was approved by majority vote at a meeting of the BEST Committee. This will further strengthen environment-friendly bus services in Mumbai’s public transport system in the days ahead.

The proposal for the 150 double-decker air-conditioned electric buses was approved at a meeting of the BEST Committee held on Wednesday. These electric double-decker buses are environment-friendly, produce no noise, and do not cause air pollution.
New Buses To Come With Modern Passenger Features
These air-conditioned buses will have automatic doors on both sides, offering passengers greater convenience while boarding and alighting. CCTV systems have also been provided in the buses for passenger safety, along with mobile charging facilities for commuter convenience. In addition, some of these buses will be made available in an open-deck format. Going forward, more new single-decker and double-decker air-conditioned buses will be added to BEST’s fleet.
