Massive Blaze Engulfs Bandra’s Link Square Mall in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A significant fire erupted early Tuesday morning at the Croma electronics showroom in the basement of Link Square Mall, located on Linking Road in Bandra (West), Mumbai, according to the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB). The blaze, reported at approximately 4:11 a.m., rapidly intensified, prompting the MFB to classify it as a Level-IV emergency by 6:25 a.m., indicating a severe situation.

The fire, initially designated as a Level-I incident at 4:17 a.m., escalated to Level-II at 4:28 a.m. and Level-III by 4:49 a.m., before reaching its peak severity. Thick smoke filled the multi-storey mall, creating hazardous conditions as flames spread through the three basement levels housing the Croma store. The MFB deployed 12 fire engines and multiple firefighting teams to combat the blaze, with operations ongoing to contain the fire, which remained confined to the basement showroom area.

No injuries or casualties have been reported, as confirmed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The cause of the fire is under investigation, with authorities working to determine its origin. The incident disrupted the early morning calm in the bustling Bandra neighborhood, drawing attention from local residents and passersby as emergency responders worked to control the situation.

The heavy smoke logging affected the entire ground-plus-three-storey structure of the mall, underscoring the scale of the emergency. Firefighting efforts continue as officials prioritize safety and containment to prevent further damage to the commercial complex.
