Bandra Chawl Collapse: Rescue Efforts Intensify After Cylinder Blast

Mumbai: A three-storey chawl in Mumbai’s Bandra East collapsed early Friday morning, leaving at least 10 people trapped under debris, according to civic authorities. The incident, reported around 5:56 AM in the Bharat Nagar area, was likely triggered by a cylinder blast, Mumbai Police stated, citing preliminary investigations. ANI reported that 12 individuals have been rescued and admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The collapse prompted an immediate response from multiple agencies, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Eight fire engines and rescue teams are actively engaged in ongoing search and rescue operations at the site. Further details on the condition of the rescued individuals and the status of those still trapped are awaited.
