Washington Mango Festival: Huge US Demand For Alphonso & Premium Indian Mangoes

New Delhi: An annual Mango Festival has been organised by the Indian Embassy in Washington, US with the collaboration of the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the Department of Commerce and the Dupont Circle Business Improvement District. 

Premium Varieties Take Over Dupont Circle

The event is hosted in Dupont Circle where popular Indian mangoes are showcased from a wide range of varieties such as Alphonso, Kesar, Dasheri, Langra and Bangapalli attracting hundreds of visitors. 

Rising American Demand for the ‘King of Fruits’

Many visitors queued up in Washington’s popular Dupont Circle yesterday in order to taste the sample of Indian Mango at the Annual mango Festival giving an overwhelming response. Even the demands for availability of premium Indian varieties have increased in the United States. 

Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra said the festival has grown rapidly over the years becoming an annual attraction for the US citizens. India is the world’s largest mango producer with exports to the United States steadily increasing in recent years via APEDA and approved irradiation facilities.
