US-Saudi Investment Forum : US President Donald Trump Takes Credit For India-Pakistan Truce Again, Read Details

New Delhi : Speaking at the US-Saudi Investment Forum, Trump claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him personally to say that India would not go to war against Pakistan after he threatened both sides with a 350% tariff. Since India and Pakistan reached a ceasefire on May 10, Trump has claimed over 60 times that he brokered the truce between the two nuclear-armed nations and warned them of massive tariffs if they do not fall in line.

Trump, known for his exaggerated claims, gave a detailed account of what transpired in the final hours before the ceasefire deal. Speaking at the forum, which was attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salma, Trump claimed he told the countries that they could continue with the conflict, but he would impose a 350% tariff on each country.

Come back to me and I will take it down. But I am not going to have you guys shooting nuclear weapons at each other, killing millions of people and having the nuclear dust floating over Los Angeles. Trump said he was all set” to slap both countries with a 350% levy and alerted Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The US President said he first received a call from Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who thanked him for saving millions of lives.

Trump said he then thanked the Prime Minister, whom he previously called the “nicest looking guy” and a “killer”, and said, “Let’s make a deal.” Trump repeated the claim on stopping the war between India and Pakistan on Tuesday as well, during a bilateral meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince in the Oval Office. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror camps deep inside Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam attack that left 26 dead.
