Urvashi Rautela’s Leonardo DiCaprio Claim Sparks Online Skepticism

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela has once again stirred the internet with a bold claim from her appearance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. On Thursday, Rautela posted selfies on Instagram alongside Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio, asserting that he dubbed her the “Queen of Cannes.” The caption accompanying her post read, “When Leonardo DiCaprio calls you the Queen of Cannes! Thank you, Leo… now that’s a Titanic compliment.” The images, showing Rautela smiling and DiCaprio giving a thumbs-up, quickly went viral.
However, her claim has met with widespread doubt on social media. Netizens questioned the authenticity of her statement, with one user commenting, “Does Leo know that he called you the queen of Cannes?” Another echoed, “Does Leonardo himself know about this?” The skepticism stems from Rautela’s history of controversial claims, including a similar assertion in 2022 when she said DiCaprio praised her talent at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, a statement that also drew heavy trolling online.
Rautela’s Cannes appearance wasn’t without other controversies. During the festival, she faced criticism for reportedly blocking a hotel staircase for a photoshoot, causing inconvenience to other guests. A viral video shared by fashion critic Diet Sabya showed her posing in a golden gown, oblivious to the queue forming behind her. She also drew attention for a wardrobe malfunction in a black gown by Naja Saade Couture, where a noticeable tear near her underarm was spotted during a red carpet appearance for the Brazilian film O Agente Secreto.
Adding a lighter note to the saga, social media personality Orhan Awatramani, known as Orry and a close friend of Rautela, chimed in with a humorous comment on her post: “What do u mean when he calls u queen of Cannes ??? U r the queen of cannes what else is he meant to u ?? Didi ?? Bhenjiii???” His playful remark amplified the online buzz, with fans enjoying the banter.
On the professional front, Rautela recently starred in Daaku Maharaj, where her song “Dabidi Dibidi” alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna gained significant attention. The film features a robust ensemble cast, including Bobby Deol and Pragya Jaiswal, and has been well-received by audiences.
