U.S. Embassy: Visa Screening Does Not Stop After a Visa is Issued

The U.S. Embassy announced on Saturday, July 12, 2025, that visa holders who violate U.S. laws or immigration regulations will face visa revocation and deportation. This statement follows recent U.S. government directives requiring visa applicants to set their social media accounts to “public” for scrutiny by authorities.

“Visa screening continues even after a visa is issued,” the U.S. Embassy stated in a social media post. “We monitor visa holders to ensure compliance with U.S. laws and immigration rules. Non-compliance will result in visa cancellation and deportation.”

On Friday, the embassy warned that providing false or incomplete information about social media accounts could lead to visa denials and future ineligibility. The stricter measures align with the Trump administration’s efforts to curb illegal immigration.

The U.S. Embassy in India has been highlighting tightened visa protocols in recent months. On June 28, it cautioned that individuals attempting visa fraud would face “significant criminal penalties” for breaking U.S. law.
