Two Israeli Embassy Staff Member Killed in DC Museum Shooting

Two Israeli Embassy personnel were fatally shot Wednesday evening outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington DC while departing from an event, according to The Associated Press. The incident occurred during a gathering organized by the American Jewish Committee, as reported by Times of Israel citing informed sources.
Law enforcement has apprehended the gunman, with authorities stating that the investigation remains active.
During a late-evening news briefing, Mayor Muriel Bowser revealed that event security personnel subdued the attacker after he had entered the museum. Officials confirmed the suspect had no prior law enforcement alerts and was not listed on any security watchlists.
President Donald Trump addressed the tragedy on his Truth Social platform, stating: “These horrible D.C. killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end, NOW! Hatred and radicalism have no place in the USA. Condolences to the families of the victims. So sad that such things as this can happen! God bless you all!”
US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem expressed her condolences on X, writing: “Two Israeli Embassy staff were senselessly killed tonight near the Jewish Museum in Washington DC. Please pray for the families of the victims. We will bring this depraved perpetrator to justice.”
Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon characterized the attack as a “depraved act of anti-Semitic terrorism” in his social media response.
“Harming diplomats and the Jewish community is crossing a red line,” Ambassador Danon posted on X. “We are confident that the US authorities will take strong action against those responsible for this criminal act.”
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed he and his team had been briefed on the shooting incident. “While we’re working with [Metropolitan Police Department] to respond and learn more, in the immediate, please pray for the victims and their families,” Patel wrote on X.
