From King’s College Student To Britain’s Youngest Mayor: Who Is Tushar Kumar?

At just 23 years of age, Indian-origin Tushar Kumar became the youngest Mayor in Britain. He is officially chosen for the Elstree and Borehamwood areas. It was announced during the mayor making ceremony. It is probably a historic moment for any Indian as nobody yet has achieved this status in many years. 

Who Is Tushar Kumar ?

Tushar Kumar is an Indian who has studied in political science at King’s College London. Afterwards, he entered into politics. He has held the position of Deputy Mayor before becoming the Mayor. From his college days itself he used to raise his concern for social and political justice. This made him outstanding amongst the rest in Borehamwood for which people look at him like a Messiah. Before becoming mayor he has also worked as policy advisor for the Department of Work and Pensions. 

After becoming Mayor expressing his gratitude he said,” From studying Political Science at King’s College London to now serving as Mayor of the town I love, this journey has been truly surreal,” Following his induction he said,”As Mayor, I want to focus on being present within the community, supporting local organisations and charities, and inspiring more young people to get involved in public service and community life.” 

What Will Be His Next Steps?

Tushar Kumar stated that he will now be able to assist even more people. As Mayor, his priorities will be to remain highly active within the community, support local organizations and charitable institutions, and encourage young people to participate in public service and community work. In this way, they will be able to extend assistance to the greatest number of those in need. It is worth noting that Tushar is not only active in politics but also teaches Hindi to British-Indian children free of charge. Furthermore, he has consistently organized events celebrating occasions such as Independence Day, Republic Day, Diwali, and Holi.
