Trump Posts List Highlighting Welfare Use by Immigrants from Various Countries – India Notably Absent
NEW YORK/WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump shared a chart on Sunday detailing welfare and assistance receipt rates among immigrants from numerous countries, prominently featuring nations such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and China, while India was conspicuously omitted from the compilation.
The document, titled ‘Immigrant Welfare Recipient Rates by Country of Origin’ and posted on Truth Social, encompasses approximately 120 nations and territories. It outlines the percentage of immigrant households from each location utilizing assistance programs in the United States, but India does not appear on the list.
Among the highlighted entries, Bangladesh recorded the highest rate at 54.8%, followed by Pakistan at 40.2%, Nepal at 34.8%, China at 32.9%, and Israel/Palestine at 25.9%. Other notable figures included Ukraine at 42.7% and a category for Asia (not elsewhere classified/not specified) at 38.8%.
The absence of India aligns with available data indicating that Indian-Americans consistently rank among the highest-earning major ethnic groups in the country.

Additionally, median personal earnings for Indian Americans aged 16 and older stood at $85,300 in 2023, well above the $52,400 figure for Asians overall, per Pew Research Centre data.
