Trump’s Bid For Nobel Peace Prize : Obama Won Nobel Prize For Doing Nothing, While I Ended 8 Wars Says US President Trump

New York : Hours before the announcement of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, Donald Trump lashed out at former US President Barack Obama, claiming he received the award for doing nothing and for destroying our country. Trump cited his own achievements in brokering peace in Gaza and ending “eight wars,” but insisted he was not motivated by the pursuit of awards.
Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, eight months after taking office. The Norwegian Nobel Committee cited “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples” in its justification. The Nobel Peace Prize will be announced at 5 am EST on Thursday in Oslo. Since returning to the Oval Office in January, Trump has openly campaigned to influence the Peace Research Institute Oslo, which plays an advisory role in the Nobel selection process.
Nina Graeger, acknowledged Trump’s role in negotiating a truce in Gaza, but cautioned, it is too early to tell whether the peace proposal will be implemented and lead to lasting peace. Despite Trump’s claims of bringing peace and avoiding “eight wars,” analysts note that the full impact of his recent efforts in Gaza and other regions remains to be seen, with several factors yet to unfold in practice.
Earlier, at his September 23 speech at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Trump boasted that within seven months of taking office, his administration had ended seven unendable wars. He listed conflicts he claimed to have resolved, including those involving Cambodia and Thailand, Serbia, the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Trump has openly said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, saying his work on peace deals like the Abraham Accords and recent ceasefires merit recognition. His administration has actively promoted his nomination, with endorsements from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Congressman Buddy Carter.
