Trump Says Iran Deal Decision Could Come Sunday; Puts Odds at ’50/50′ Between Agreement and Military Strike

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday he could decide by Sunday whether to move ahead with a proposed agreement with Iran or resume military action, after reviewing Tehran’s latest draft proposal with his advisers. The development was reported by Axios.

Trump described the chances of a deal as a “solid 50/50”, saying the United States would either secure a “good” agreement or “blow them to kingdom come.”

He said he was scheduled to meet envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner later Saturday to discuss Tehran’s latest response, with Vice President JD Vance also expected to join the discussions.

In a separate CBS News interview, Trump said negotiators from both sides are “getting a lot closer” to finalising an agreement. Sources familiar with the talks told CBS News that the latest proposal includes measures to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, release some frozen Iranian assets held overseas, and continue negotiations between the two sides.

Trump declined to disclose specifics. “I can’t tell you before I tell them, right?” he said. He added that any final deal would stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and ensure its enriched uranium would be “satisfactorily handled.” “I will only sign a deal where we get everything we want,” Trump told CBS News.

Sources cited by CBS News said Trump was still reviewing different proposals and remained in consultation with advisers and foreign leaders, including officials from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.

Trump issued a blunt warning if talks collapse. “We’re going to have a situation where no country will ever be hit as hard as they’re about to be hit,” he said.
