Trump Misses Out on Nobel Peace Prize After Claiming to End ‘Eight Wars’; Internet Responds with Memes

Former US President Donald Trump failed to win the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize despite repeated claims of bringing global conflicts to an end. The 79-year-old leader, who recently declared he had “ended eight wars,” had been widely tipped by his allies to win the honor. From Pakistan’s Prime Minister to Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, several leaders had publicly endorsed Trump for the prize.

However, the Nobel Committee awarded this year’s Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado for her role in guiding her nation’s transition from dictatorship to democracy. Following the announcement, social media erupted with memes mocking Trump’s expectations and exaggerated peace claims.

One viral post humorously credited him with “resolving conflicts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Israel and Iran, Switzerland and Bhutan, Sparta and Athens, and even the Achaeans and Troy,” highlighting his frequent and sometimes premature declarations of peace successes.

Throughout his term, Trump has often touted his role as a peacemaker, asserting his administration’s dedication to ending wars and promoting global stability. His team has repeatedly praised his “tireless efforts” for peace. Yet, contradictions have persisted including the June 22 U.S. airstrike on an Iranian nuclear site, followed by Trump’s declaration the very next day that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran had been reached.

In his recent remarks on the Gaza ceasefire, Trump proudly claimed, “We ended the war in Gaza and created peace,” describing it as the eighth conflict resolved under his leadership. He said Americans should be proud of their nation’s role in ending the violence and reiterated his ambition to bring peace to the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict.

Despite missing the Nobel recognition, Trump’s statements have once again positioned him at the center of global attention and, as the internet proved, at the heart of a new meme storm.
