Trump Hypes UFO Files Release as Polymarket Opens Bets on US Confirming Aliens Exist

The Pentagon is expected to release its first batch of UFO-related documents this month, with speculation mounting that the drop could come as early as Friday, May 8. President Donald Trump has already stoked public anticipation, saying some “very interesting” UFO files will be made available for the public to see. Congress reportedly received the first batch of files on May 6.

The push for disclosure traces back to February, when Trump directed authorities to release all files related to aliens and extraterrestrials, citing public interest in transparency. “We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t,” he said at the White House.

Polymarket Opens Bets on Official Alien Confirmation

The buzz has spilled over into the prediction markets. Betting platform Polymarket is currently running a wager titled “Will the US confirm that aliens exist by…?” with multiple deadline options. The nearest May 31 sits at a 5 per cent probability, with Yes bid at 4.9 cents and No at 95 cents. The June 30 deadline carries an 8 per cent chance, September 30 stands at 14 per cent, and December 31 is the highest at 21 per cent. The numbers reflect significant public scepticism, even amid the excitement.

That scepticism has a basis. The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) has consistently maintained there is “no evidence” of extraterrestrial technology. Officials connected to UAP investigations have similarly stated there is nothing to suggest aliens are real or have ever visited Earth.

Tyson and Obama Weigh In

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has predicted that whatever files are released will likely be heavily redacted or “anticlimactic,” and that official institutional narratives in this case, consistent denial will continue to shape public perception.

Former President Barack Obama added his voice to the conversation during a May 5 appearance on The Late Show, saying the government is not hiding anything “of true significance.” The comment followed a February podcast appearance in which Obama said he believed aliens are real, before clarifying that he had personally seen no evidence, though “the odds are good there’s life out there.”

Social Media Reacts

The sight of people placing financial bets on alien confirmation has drawn a mix of amusement and cynicism online. “Kind of impressive how fast people monetize everything,” wrote one user. Another commented, “The way the world is moving, I wouldn’t mind a few aliens.” One post asked pointedly, “Is this another distraction from the Epstein files?” while another noted: “So now we’ve reached the phase where aliens are not just real… they’re also a financial instrument.”
