Washington: US President Donald Trump has expressed indifference toward the possibility of resuming nuclear negotiations with Iran, following the collapse of indirect talks held in Pakistan. Speaking to reporters outside Air Force One on Sunday, Trump stated that Tehran is currently in “very bad shape” and blamed the Iranian side for the failure, claiming they refused to abandon their nuclear ambitions.
The discussions in Islamabad lasted approximately 21 hours but ended without agreement on the core issue of Iran’s nuclear program. Trump firmly reiterated that “Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. There is no way,” adding that Iranian officials had made their intentions clear during the recent meetings.
When asked about the prospects of future talks, the US President responded: “I don’t know. I don’t care if they come back or not. If they don’t come back, I’m fine.”

Trump further asserted that Iran’s military capabilities have been severely degraded, with its missile and drone production largely defeated. He noted that the United States had shown restraint by targeting only one bridge after Iran allegedly broke its word on opening the Strait of Hormuz.
“Their promise was that they were going to open the Strait of Hormuz, and they didn’t do it. They lied,” Trump told reporters.

US Blockade Announcement
A naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is set to begin at 10am local time on Monday, according to Trump. He announced on Truth Social that the US Navy would block any ships attempting to enter or leave the strategic waterway, describing Iran’s previous closure of the strait as “world extortion.”
The US President also indicated that other nations are coordinating to prevent Iran from selling oil.
Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported that the delegation had engaged in intensive discussions with the US team, led by Vice President JD Vance, but blamed “unreasonable demands” from Washington for the lack of progress. An earlier Hindustan Times report quoted Iran’s Foreign Minister saying a deal was “just inches away” before the talks broke down.
Trump maintained that most points were agreed upon except the critical nuclear issue.
