Toronto Shooting: 1 Killed, 5 Wounded in Lawrence Heights Neighborhood

Toronto: A deadly shooting incident in Toronto’s Lawrence Heights neighborhood Tuesday evening resulted in one fatality and left five individuals wounded, prompting an active manhunt for the perpetrators.

The Toronto Police have confirmed that the five surviving victims suffered gunshot injuries that are not considered life-threatening. All wounded individuals have been transported to medical facilities for treatment.

Law enforcement has established a command center near the intersection of Ranee Avenue and Flemington Road as part of their response to the incident. The shooting involved unidentified gunmen who discharged firearms in the Lawrence Heights district.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed her concern regarding the violence through social media, stating she was “disturbed by news of the shootings in the Lawrence Heights area this evening.” The mayor confirmed her office maintains communication with Toronto Police, who are currently investigating the scene alongside local councillor Deputy Mayor Mike Colle.

Chow also acknowledged the efforts of emergency responders, thanking “the first responders – Toronto Police, Fire and Paramedic services for your work on a very busy and challenging scene.” She noted that Toronto Police plan to provide additional information in the near future.

Authorities have secured the surrounding area with a perimeter while conducting search operations to locate and apprehend the suspects responsible for the shooting.
