Three Killed Outside Linz Restaurant in Austria in Suspected Murder-Suicide

At least three people died outside a restaurant in the Austrian city of Linz on Thursday, May 7, in what police and local media described as a murder-suicide.

According to Kronen Zeitung, a man believed to be nearly 90 years old allegedly shot his wife, also nearly 90, and his daughter, approximately 60, in front of the traditional Lüftner inn. He then turned the weapon on himself. The incident occurred at around 1:30 pm. A police spokesperson confirmed that the weapon used had been recovered. Emergency services stated there was no danger to the public. The area was cordoned off by police.

Witnesses Describe the Moment

The shooting left residents and bystanders shaken. Adelheit S., 84, who was inside the inn when the shots were fired, told Kronen Zeitung, “There were so many shots.” She said the restaurant was locked down and she was only permitted to leave after half an hour. Another resident said, “Several people have already called me to ask if I’m still alive.” Further details are awaited.
