Fierce Winds Topple Brazil’s Towering 40-Meter Statue of Liberty Replica

In southern Brazil, powerful gusts of wind have caused the collapse of a large-scale replica of the Statue of Liberty, sending the structure crashing to the ground in a dramatic incident captured on video that quickly spread across social media.

The statue, part of a prominent display by the Brazilian retail chain Havan, stood approximately 40 meters tall—though some reports describe it as 24 meters—and succumbed to wind speeds reaching 80 to 90 kilometers per hour.

Fortunately, quick action by Havan staff to secure and isolate the area ensured that no injuries occurred during the toppling.
