Russian Missile Destroys Indian Pharma Warehouse in Ukraine, Kyiv Claims

A Russian missile hit a warehouse belonging to an Indian pharmaceutical company in Ukraine, according to a statement from the Ukrainian Embassy in New Delhi on April 12, 2025. The embassy shared the information via a post on X, highlighting the destruction of medical supplies intended for vulnerable populations.
The facility, reportedly owned by Kusum, a prominent Indian drug manufacturer, was struck amid ongoing hostilities in the region. The Ukrainian mission accused Russia of intentionally targeting Indian businesses, noting the loss of medicines meant for children and the elderly. This claim was echoed in a post on X by Martin Harris, the British Ambassador to Ukraine, who reported that Russian drones destroyed a major pharmaceutical storage site in Kyiv, incinerating critical stocks.
The Ukrainian Embassy’s statement pointedly referenced Russia’s assertion of a “special friendship” with India, suggesting a contradiction in Moscow’s actions. Neither the Indian nor Russian governments have issued official comments on the incident.
The strike comes against the backdrop of faltering ceasefire efforts. On the same day, senior diplomats from Russia and Ukraine, meeting at a conference in Turkey, exchanged accusations of violating a tentative US-brokered agreement to pause attacks on energy infrastructure. Last month, both nations had agreed in principle to a 30-day truce, but conflicting statements following separate talks with US officials underscored the fragility of the deal.
