Peshawar Paramilitary Headquarters Under Siege: Twin Suicide Bombings Leave 6 Dead

Peshawar: Unidentified gunmen launched an attack on a paramilitary force headquarters in Peshawar, Pakistan, on Monday. Initial reports indicated no casualties, though at least six people are now believed to have died in the assault.

Videos documenting the attack circulated on social media platforms. Local news sources reported that two suicide bombings occurred at the Federal Corps Headquarters located in Saddar.

According to reports, one bomber detonated explosives at the main entrance while another struck near the motorcycle parking area. Armed confrontations between the attackers and security forces continued as the situation unfolded.

Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Mian Saeed Ahmad acknowledged the incident, stating that the FC headquarters was under siege. “We are responding and the area is being cordoned off,” Ahmad informed the Pakistan daily Dawn.

No organization has yet taken responsibility for the attack.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist attacks targeting security forces over recent years, with most incidents attributed to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A previous attack occurred on September 3, when a suicide bombing at a political gathering in Quetta resulted in 11 deaths and left more than 40 wounded. The explosion hit a stadium parking area where hundreds of Balochistan National Party supporters had assembled.
