‘No Palestinian State Will be Created’: Netanyahu Pledges Expansion of West Bank Settlements After Global Recognition

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday (September 21) categorically ruled out the formation of a Palestinian state, directly addressing Western nations that recently extended recognition to Palestine. Netanyahu’s announcement came just hours after the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia formally recognised the State of Palestine, reaffirming their long-standing support for a two-state solution.

In a strongly worded statement, Netanyahu said, “I have a clear message for those leaders who recognise a Palestinian state after the horrific massacre on October 7: you are granting a huge reward to terror. And I have another message for you: it will not happen. No Palestinian state will be established west of the Jordan River.”

The Israeli leader claimed he has consistently resisted global and regional pressure to accept a Palestinian state. “For years, I have prevented the creation of this terror state despite enormous pressure both domestically and internationally,” Netanyahu said.

The Prime Minister further underlined his commitment to expanding settlements in disputed territories. “We have done so with determination and political wisdom. Moreover, we have doubled Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria, and we will continue on this path,” he added, referring to the West Bank by its Biblical designation.

His remarks mark a firm rejection of Western diplomacy efforts and signal a continuation of Israel’s settlement expansion policy even as international momentum on Palestinian recognition gathers pace.
