N523QS NetJets Plane Crash: 5 Key Facts About the Cessna Citation Latitude Involved in Texas Incident

A NetJets-operated private aircraft identified as N523QS was involved in a crash near Laredo, Texas, on Tuesday night, drawing widespread attention across the aviation industry. According to reports cited by Hindustan Times, the aircraft was a Cessna Citation Latitude business jet that went down on Loop 20 highway shortly after 10 p.m. local time.

Authorities confirmed that the jet was carrying six people when the incident occurred. Emergency crews rushed to the scene after the aircraft crashed and caught fire, triggering a large-scale rescue operation. 

Aircraft Identified as Cessna Citation Latitude

The aircraft involved in the accident was a Cessna Citation Latitude, a midsize business jet manufactured by Textron Aviation. The model is widely used for corporate and private travel and is known for its long-range capability, spacious cabin, and advanced avionics systems. 

Flight Operated by NetJets

Flight-tracking data identified the aircraft as registration N523QS, operated by NetJets, one of the world’s largest private aviation companies. NetJets, owned by Berkshire Hathaway, provides fractional aircraft ownership and private jet services to customers across multiple regions. Following the crash, the company said it was cooperating with authorities investigating the incident. 

Journey Began in Mexico

According to flight information, the aircraft had departed from Los Cabos International Airport in Mexico before heading toward Laredo. The jet was nearing its destination when the crash occurred. Investigators have not yet determined the exact cause of the accident. 

Rescue Efforts and Casualties

Witnesses described dramatic rescue attempts as bystanders stopped their vehicles and tried to help passengers escape from the burning aircraft. Several occupants reportedly managed to exit the jet, while emergency personnel continued rescue operations at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that one person died in the crash, although it was not immediately clear whether the victim was on board the aircraft or on the ground. No injuries among people on the highway were initially reported.

Federal and local authorities have launched an investigation to determine what led to the crash. Officials are examining flight data, aircraft records and other evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.
