India Bolsters Myanmar Quake Relief with Fresh Aid Shipment

India dispatched an additional 31 tonnes of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar on Sunday, reinforcing its support its ongoing relief efforts in the earthquake-stricken nation. The shipment, carried aboard a C-17 Globemaster aircraft, included vital supplies to restock an Indian Army field hospital already operating in the region.
The aircraft lifted off from Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad in the early hours of Sunday, according to a senior official. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted the mission on X, stating, “#OperationBrahma@IAF_MCC C-17 plane departs for Mandalay with 31 tons of humanitarian aid, including replenishment stores for the Indian army field hospital unit,” accompanied by images of the operation.
Myanmar was rocked by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake last week, claiming over 3,000 lives, with rescue teams still combing through debris in search of survivors. India swiftly launched ‘Operation Brahma’ on March 28 to aid Myanmar and Thailand following the disaster.
Under this operation, the Indian Army established a field hospital in Mandalay, staffed by 118 personnel and supported by two C-17 aircraft that departed from Agra on March 29. The unit continues to provide critical medical assistance as Myanmar’s government and local agencies press forward with relief and rescue efforts.
