The Tesla chief had been overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative focused on streamlining federal operations and eliminating bureaucratic obstacles.

The announcement came through Musk’s social media platform X, where he expressed gratitude to President Trump while confirming the conclusion of his tenure as a temporary government adviser with DOGE.

The timing of Musk’s exit follows his first public disagreement with President Trump, delivered just one day earlier. The tech mogul challenged Trump’s promoted spending legislation, arguing it contradicts fiscal responsibility goals and undermines DOGE’s cost-cutting objectives.

“A bill can be big, or it can be beautiful. But I don’t know if it can be both. My personal opinion,” Musk stated, questioning the President’s characterization of the “big, beautiful” budget proposal.
