Kin Makes Big Allegation Against Yunus Government; Regime Accused Of Trying To Sabotage Bangladesh Election
Dhaka : Sharif Omar Hadi, brother of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and July uprising frontliner Sharif Osman Hadi, alleged that a vested quarter within the government orchestrated the killing to derail the upcoming national election, reported Bangladesh daily. Addressing the government at a “Shahidi Shopoth” (Martyr’s Oath) programme organised by Inqilab Mancha in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh, Omar Hadi said, “It is you who had Osman Hadi killed.
He said his brother wanted the national election to be held by February and urged the authorities not to disturb the poll atmosphere. “Ensure a speedy trial of the killers so the election environment is not harmed. The government has failed to show us any visible progress. If justice for Osman Hadi is not delivered, you too will be compelled to flee Bangladesh one day,” he said as reported by thedailystar.net.
The Daily star also reported that while speaking at the rally, Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber reiterated the 30-working-day ultimatum given to the government to identify and arrest the killers, first announced in a press statement on Monday. Sharif Osman Hadi, an anti-India student leader associated with last year’s July uprising, was shot at close range while travelling in a battery-powered rickshaw in Dhaka’s Bijoynagar area on December 12.
Earlier, Inqilab Moncho’s member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, speaking as the keynote speaker, alleged a “deep conspiracy” involving international intelligence agencies and domestic “fascist associates” aimed at undermining Bangladesh’s sovereignty and the gains of the July uprising.
The platform has given the government a 30-working-day deadline to identify and arrest the killers, warning of tougher nationwide programmes if the demand is not met. While the group said it would pause formal protests on December 25, the day BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is due to return to Bangladesh, it announced wall-writing and social media campaigns across December 24 and 25, with further agitation planned from December 26.
