Katy Perry Soars into History with First All-Women Space Crew

Katy Perry joined a trailblazing all-female crew aboard Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission, marking a historic moment in space travel. This flight, launched on Monday from West Texas, was the first time in over six decades that an all-women team journeyed to the edge of space.

The 11-minute suborbital mission briefly transported the crew past the Kármán line—considered the boundary of space—before safely returning to Earth. A video released by Blue Origin captured the moment the six women floated weightlessly, celebrating their “limitless” experience.

Accompanying Perry were Lauren Sanchez, fiancée of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, CBS journalist Gayle King, ex-NASA aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, scientist and activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

While floating in zero gravity, Perry sang What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and held a daisy as a tribute to her daughter, Daisy. Upon landing, she expressed feeling “super connected to love.”

This mission was the first in U.S. history where all the seats were occupied by women. The last all-female spaceflight occurred in 1963, when Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman to fly solo into space.

Blue Origin did not disclose the flight’s costs or funding sources. The launch also comes just weeks before Sanchez and Bezos are expected to wed in Venice.
