‘Iran Tried Targeting My Son’: Netanyahu

Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, said that Iran attempted to kill one of his sons, although he did not specify which of his sons was the target or when or where the alleged conspiracy occurred. In the wake of the US and Israel’s war on Iran, Netanyahu’s coalition was trailing in opinion polls ahead of the October general election when he made his accusation on Monday.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and four members of his family, including his daughter Boshra and his 14-month-old granddaughter Zahra, were killed in a joint US-Israeli raid on Tehran at the start of the war.

The Jerusalem Post claims that Netanyahu made the assertion regarding the purported Iranian plan against his son in a phone conversation with Channel 14, a conservative Israeli media channel.

“This case is unbelievable. One of my boys was targeted by Iran. Iran attempted to kill him and one of my sons,” Netanyahu claimed.

He was reacting to allegations that one of Israel’s security services had refused to give Gadi Eisenkot, the former head of the army who is vying with Netanyahu to be the country’s next prime minister, a security detail.

Netanyahu declared that 24-hour security for Eisenkot was “not a luxury” and expressed support for it.

He declared, “Without that, [the Iranians] will succeed.”

Netanyahu has a daughter and two boys. According to The Jerusalem Post, Israeli officials granted his wife and both of his boys extended personal protection in July.

Since early 2024, his 35-year-old older son Yair has lived in the US city of Miami for extended periods of time, causing controversy in Israel due to the expense of taxpayer protection.

Iran, on the other hand, has vowed to exact revenge for the murders of Khamenei and his family.

A week after Ali Khamenei’s passing, Mojtaba, Khamenei’s son, was named the new supreme leader.

Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen in public since his appointment, although he promised to “avenge the blood” of the former supreme leader in a statement released before his father’s funeral.
