Apple is gearing up for its “Awe Dropping” event on September 9, 2025, at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino, where it will unveil the iPhone 17 series. According to leaks reported by Mint, the lineup will include four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Alongside these, new Apple Watch models, updated AirPods, and enhanced AI features are expected to be showcased.
In India, pricing is a key focus due to a 5% decline in the rupee’s value against the US dollar, as noted by Faisal Kawoosa, Chief Analyst at Techarc. The base iPhone 17 is projected to start at approximately ₹86,000, potentially higher than last year’s model due to currency fluctuations. However, leaks suggest Apple may maintain US pricing for the base model at $799, consistent with the iPhone 16. The iPhone 17 Air, replacing the Plus variant, is expected to range between $899 and $949 in the US, translating to roughly ₹99,990 in India. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could see price hikes, with starting prices of $1,049 (₹1,24,990) and $1,249 (₹1,64,990) respectively, driven by upgrades like 256GB base storage and advanced A19 Pro processors.
The iPhone 17 is anticipated to feature a slimmer aluminum body, a 6.3-inch 120Hz ProMotion display, and a 24MP selfie camera. The iPhone 17 Air may offer a 6.6-inch display but compromise with a single rear camera and a smaller battery. The Pro models are rumored to include a titanium frame, a triple 48MP camera system with LiDAR, and up to 2TB of storage. These details remain speculative until Apple’s official announcement.
The event will also introduce updated accessories and AI enhancements, reinforcing Apple’s premium positioning in India. Pre-orders are expected to begin on September 12, with sales starting September 19.
