Indian Student Dies in London Shortly After Birthday Celebration

A 25-year-old Indian student was discovered dead in London the morning after attending a birthday party, leaving his family seeking answers and assistance to repatriate his body.

S Srinath Reddy, originally from the Kamareddy district in Telangana, had relocated to the UK about 14 months earlier to pursue a master’s degree at De Montfort University in Leicester. His father, Madhusudan Reddy, described the circumstances as unclear when speaking from their village of Talamadla.

Reddy’s roommate found his body on Tuesday morning. The roommate later told others that Reddy had died by hanging, but no official determination of the cause has been confirmed. The father noted that he had spoken with his son the previous night, and their conversation was normal. Reddy had mentioned attending a birthday party that evening.

The family remains in the dark about the exact details surrounding the death. Madhusudan Reddy has appealed to both central and state governments for support in bringing his son’s remains back to India for the final rites.

Reddy came from a modest background. His family had secured an education loan and borrowed from relatives to support his studies abroad, according to details shared on a crowdfunding platform set up to aid the family. The funds raised will help cover the costs of transporting the body and performing the last rites.

This tragedy has prompted an outpouring of support from the community, with efforts underway to assist the grieving family during this difficult period.

The incident highlights the vulnerabilities faced by Indian students pursuing education overseas, though authorities have yet to release further details on the investigation. Friends and relatives continue to process the sudden loss of a young man who had been building a future far from home.
