Indian-Origin Man Arrested After Mid-Flight Assault on Frontier Airlines

A 21-year-old man of Indian descent, Ishaan Sharma, was apprehended in the United States following an alleged assault on a fellow passenger aboard a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami on June 30. According to reports, Sharma attacked Keanu Evans without provocation, grabbing his neck and issuing death threats during the incident.
A video circulating online captures the chaotic scene, showing Sharma and Evans engaged in a physical altercation while other passengers and a flight attendant attempted to intervene. Evans recounted to authorities that Sharma’s actions began shortly after takeoff, describing how Sharma approached him, grabbed his neck, and made threatening statements, including, “You puny mortal, you’ll die,” as noted.
Evans alerted the flight crew after noticing Sharma’s erratic behavior, and he was instructed to press the assistance button if the situation escalated. When Sharma allegedly confronted him again, the situation turned violent. The altercation left Sharma with a black eye and a laceration above his eyebrow, requiring medical attention at Jackson West Hospital before his arrest. Evans sustained minor scratches but declined treatment.

Sharma’s attorney, Renee Gordon, claimed in court that her client was meditating as part of his religious practice, which may have been misinterpreted by Evans, Sharma faces battery charges and is being held on a $500 bond, as confirmed by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
The incident, which has gained significant attention through viral footage, underscores the challenges of maintaining order during air travel. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
