Hyderabad Family’s US Vacation Ends in Fatal Crash

A devastating car accident in Green County, Alabama, claimed the lives of a Hyderabad-based family of four on Monday. The victims, identified as Sri Venkat, his wife Tejaswini, and their two children, were on a vacation in the United States. They had visited relatives in Atlanta and were driving back to Dallas when their vehicle was struck head-on by a mini-truck traveling on the wrong side of the road.
The collision triggered a fire that engulfed the family’s car, leaving no survivors. Authorities reported that the blaze was so intense it reduced the vehicle to ashes, leaving the victims’ bodies charred beyond recognition. Local officials, in coordination with US federal authorities and the Indian Consulate, are working to repatriate the remains to Hyderabad for final rites. Forensic examinations, including DNA testing and dental record verification, are underway to confirm the identities of the deceased.

The Indian Consulate expressed its condolences on social media, describing the incident as deeply saddening. This tragedy follows another recent accident in August 2024, where an Indian-origin couple and their daughter were killed in a Texas car crash, leaving their teenage son as the sole survivor.
