India To Push The FATF To Place Pakistan On “Grey List” For Terror Funding: Report

According to The Times of India, India will press the terrorism finance watchdog FATF to put Pakistan back on the “grey list” during its next meeting in October.

After persuading the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) that it has completed a 34-point action plan that included operational and legislative improvements targeted at preventing money laundering and terrorist financing, Pakistan was removed off the FATF’s gray list in October 2022. However, India argues that Pakistan still encourages terrorism, especially that which targets India.

In April of last year, 26 people were killed in an attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, by terrorists supported by Pakistan. It was the deadliest assault on civilians in a long time.

According to the ToI, India is expected to provide new proof, such as videos that Pakistan still encourages terrorism. Although the nature of the evidence was not stated in the report, it might involve information obtained following Operation Sindoor.

Numerous army troops attended the funeral prayers for those murdered in Operation Sindoor, which were conducted by a terrorist with US sanctions. In addition, Pakistani generals have regularly attended these funerals, underscoring the tight ties between the military and terrorist organizations. This occurs soon after Vivek Agarwal, an Indian diplomat, was named Vice-President of the FATF.
