‘Be Aware, Seek Shelter’: India’s Safety Advisory For Citizens Caught In Mexico’s Escalating Turmoil

Mexico City : India has issued an advisory for all Indian nationals in Mexico amid the ongoing clashes after the killing of the most wanted cartel boss known as “El Mencho”. he is regarded as one of the country’s most violent criminal figures. 

The Indian embassy has advised Indian nationals to seek shelter and avoid large crowds for their safety. The statement said , ” There are ongoing security operations and related road blockages and criminal activity, Indian nationals in Jalisco State, Tamaulipas State, areas of Michoacan State, Guerrero State, and Nuevo Leon State should shelter in place until further notice.” 

The advisory also issued check-list of actions for Indians to follow that are as follows – 

Clashes Erupt In Mexico 

After the armed forces killed Drug Lord El Mencho on Sunday, who was the leader of the Jaslico New Generation Cartel (CJNG) , clashes erupted across Mexico. The defence ministry stated that El Mencho was shot so badly that he got seriously injured and for medical treatment when he was airlifted to Mexico city he died midway. 

According to the reports, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel profounded as one of the most aggressive cartels due to its history of attacks on the military.  Moreover, the US Drug Enforcement Administration , sights him with the Sinaloa cartel which is considered to be the most infamous criminal group in Mexico with a presence in all 50 states.
