‘Heartbroken’: Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez mourns Pahalgam terror attack victims victims

New Delhi: Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez voiced his grief over the devastating terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed at least 28 civilian lives. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Hafeez wrote, “Sad & heartbroken #PahalgamTerroristAttack,” a brief yet powerful message that struck a chord across borders, highlighting the shared human toll of such violence.

The massacre — considered one of the worst in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack also left over 20 people injured and has sent shockwaves across the country. The scale and brutality of the incident have renewed urgent appeals for decisive, united action against terrorism.

In response to the attack, security forces, including the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and central agencies, have initiated a high-level search operation to track down those responsible.

Top political leaders also reacted strongly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah condemned the attack unequivocally. “Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared,” Shah declared while paying homage to the victims, emphasizing the government’s firm stance against terrorism.
