Elon Musk Changes Twitter Name Again, Leaves Followers Puzzled With New Identity ‘Gorklon Rust’

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has once again surprised his followers by changing his profile name on X (formerly Twitter). The Tesla CEO’s new display name is now “Gorklon Rust,” sparking widespread curiosity and speculation among users regarding the meaning behind this cryptic choice.
This isn’t the first instance Musk has altered his online identity. Earlier this year, he famously switched his X profile name to “Kekius Maximus,” accompanied by a profile picture featuring the popular “Pepe the Frog” meme holding a video game controller.

Decoding ‘Gorklon Rust’
Elon Musk’s latest username appears to combine references from his current business interests. The first element, “Grok,” directly refers to the AI chatbot developed by Musk’s own artificial intelligence venture, xAI. The term “Rust” seems linked to the Rust programming language, which is reportedly part of the infrastructure behind xAI’s technologies, indicating Musk’s continued emphasis on AI innovation.
Moreover, “Gorklon Rust” is notably also the name of a meme cryptocurrency token traded on the Solana blockchain. Currently, this coin is active on decentralized exchanges including PumpSwap, Raydium, and Meteora.
Interestingly, Musk’s decision to adopt the new profile name follows closely after his announcement of major updates planned for X’s recommendation algorithm, which will incorporate a streamlined version of the Grok AI chatbot to improve user interactions.
Musk’s History of Cryptic Name Changes
Elon Musk has previously grabbed attention by changing his digital persona. Earlier this year, the billionaire entrepreneur adopted the name “Kekius Maximus,” a nod to another cryptocurrency meme token. The coin KEKIUS notably surged to around $0.005667 on December 27, 2024, marking an impressive 497.56% increase in just 24 hours, reflecting Musk’s significant influence within the crypto community.
