In a social media post, the Crown Prince shared the joyful news, including the baby’s name and a heartfelt prayer, as reported by Gulf News. The name “Hind” is a tribute to his mother, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, thereby preserving a cherished family legacy.
What Does the Name Hind Mean?
The name Hind carries multiple layers of meaning in Arabic culture. Historically, it was the name of one of Prophet Muhammad’s companions. Additionally, as noted by TheBump.com, the term is also used to describe a group of camels, a female deer, and even serves as the Arabic designation for India.
About Sheikh Hamdan
Sheikh Hamdan, known affectionately as “Fazza” on social media, has been the Crown Prince of Dubai since 2008. He also holds key positions as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates, both roles assumed in July 2024. The second son of Dubai’s Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, he continues to play a prominent role in the nation’s leadership. In 2019, Sheikh Hamdan married his cousin, Sheikha Sheikha bint Saeed bin Thani Al Maktoum, and the couple now share four children: twin daughter and son Sheikha and Rashid (born in May 2021), son Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum (born in February 2023), and the newest addition, daughter Hind (born March 2025).
