Reports Of Relocation Plan Follow Trump Proposal To “Take Over” Gaza

The Trump administration is reportedly developing a proposal to relocate approximately one million Palestinians from Gaza to Libya. This plan follows earlier statements from President Donald Trump, who suggested the U.S. could “take over” Gaza, an idea that has sparked international debate.
Under the proposed arrangement, the U.S. would release billions of dollars in Libyan assets, frozen since the 2011 NATO-backed uprising that ousted Muammar Gaddafi, as an incentive for Libya to accept the Palestinian population. Discussions with Libyan leadership have taken place, though no final agreement has been reached. Israel, which initiated a military campaign in Gaza following Hamas’s October 2023 attack that killed 1,200 people, has been informed of these talks.
A senior Hamas official, representing the U.S.-designated terrorist group that governs Gaza, told that the organization was unaware of any such relocation discussions. The logistics of the plan remain unclear, including where in Libya the Palestinians would be resettled and how their transportation would be facilitated. The proposal comes amid ongoing conflict and humanitarian challenges in Gaza, with no public response from Libya’s rival governments.
